Gift Giving

Is it not true that sometimes the greatest gifts in life are free, or only payment required is your love and a little time? Or, well, in this specific case a lot of time. My boyfriend bought me a number of amazing gifts over the weekend, a VOG mask to help prevent airbourne allergens reaching me, a set of new AMAZING unicorn brushes which I obviously love, and a 38 case of my favourite drink. But you know the best thing he did for me this weekend? Well, two things actually. The first, relatively free, the second just precious energy spent.

He helped me take my dog out for the day.

Poor Jaxx works so hard for me, and the closest thing to a day out he usually gets is to the Cricket field within wheeling/walking distance. While this is great, I do feel awful that he doesn't get to experience more of the world (Although that is changing next week). So my boyfreind drove us to the local forest. We parked up in the disabled bay to drop me off with the wheelchair (I'm still waiting on my blue badge) and then went to park. He unloads and loads up my wheelchair, the heavy lifting I simply couldn't manage.
After he parks, we head off. For the most part I'm independent with the chair, but he wrangles Jaxx when needed. My dog is completely friendly, but I appreciate your 2 year old may be intimidated by a giant black horse-dog, there's also a road through the forest with intermittent traffic - less busy than busy. We usually put a picnic of suitable foods on the back, and make our way to the centre by the lake, where there is a small cafe and benches. I get set up at a table with Jaxx, while he goes and gets some delicious, warm chips. Let me tell you something, it doesn't matter how hot it is, these chips (fries) are SOOOOO worth it.
And we just sit, and talk, and laugh at Jaxx, and play with him, and laugh together. It's the most beautiful, inexpensive date I can imagine.

The Second Thing he did:

The second thing my boyfriend did for me this weekend, was completely clean and rearrange my room, as I was standing up and without dizziness, just clumsiness, falling into the things infront of me. Hitting things as I walked past, and hurting myself frequently. He sorted laundry, folded and hung it respectively. He cleaned out envelopes and bottles from down the side of the bed, cleaned. I mean I can't thank him enough for this one. It took about six hours, and there's just no way I have the energy, it's not something you can sort of half do either, because you have to put things on the bed to get to other things etc. So it needs to be in one day, for the majority. There are still a few things that need to be done but for the most part, it's much better.
Material goods are great, and I super appreciate just being thought of, but these acts mean so much to me. They impact me and my puppy on a bigger basis than material goods.
So ladies and gentleman, there you have it. It doesn't always have to be an expensive gift. Just a thoughtful one :)
